WICHITA, Kan. - #18 MNU advanced to the National Championship with a 1-0 double overtime over #8 Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday. This marks the 2nd time the Pioneers have reached the title game (MNU lost 1-0 to #1 Rio Grande in overtime in 2015). The Pioneers controlled possession for most of the first half, and MNU out-shot OKWU 7-2, but nothing found the back of the net. The second half was more even in terms of possession, but again nothing got by the keepers and the scoreless tie went into overtime. In the 95th minute,
Antonio Mugica found himself at the top of the box - where he ripped a shot to the side netting to give MNU a 1-0 lead. OKWU pressed for the next 15 minutes of overtime, but the Pioneer defense allowed just 2 shots in the final minutes to send them to the title match.
