OLATHE, Kan. – MNU used a last-minute comeback to force overtime en route to a 101-95 victory over Bethel to open the season on Friday. A back-and-forth first half ended with MNU up by 1, but the Pioneers started to create separation early in the second half. A 7-0 run led to an 8-point lead, but Bethel was able to close the gap. MNU led by 7 with 5 minutes left, but the Threshers went on a 7-0 run to tie it.
Bethel led by 5 with under a minute left, but the MNU defense made some stops and hit some free throws to get within 2. In the closing seconds,
Anthony Brown hit a running floater to send the game into overtime. The Pioneers went on a 8-0 run in the extra 5-minute period to take control, and held on to win by 6.
