Pioneers Beat Wildcats

OLATHE, Kan. – MNU used a huge 2nd quarter to pull away from Culver-Stockton on Saturday. Both teams scored 16 in the opening quarter, but the Pioneer defense clamped down hard in the 2nd. The Wildcats managed just 6 points as the Pioneers put up 24 to take an 18-point lead to the locker room. A tight 3rd quarter saw MNU's lead increase to 19, but Culver made some noise in the 4th. The Pioneers went cold and Culver went on a 15-1 run to close the gap to 5 with a minute left. Free throws from Amaya Marlatt and Aubrey Rogers sealed it, and MNU won by 8.
 
Turning Point
MNU's 24-6 second quarter was too much to overcome.

MNU out-rebounded Culver 39-28.

Individual Leaders
Lydia Ostenson shot 7-10 for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Jordynn Gonzalez had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Bi'Anna Pettis added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Allison French had 10 points and 5 rebounds. And Amaya Marlatt had 8 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
