OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers found a way to score 4 touchdowns in a driving rain to beat Missouri Baptist 28-21 on Saturday. MNU controlled the 1st quarter and led 14-0. Both teams recorded a touchdown in the 2nd quarter and the Pioneers took a 20-8 lead into halftime. The Spartans took advantage of a botched MNU punt to turn a short field into a touchdown, then drove 57 yards in 9 plays to take a 21-20 lead heading to the 4th. Quarterback Adrian Parsons scrambled for an 11-yard touchdown, then ran in the 2-point conversion for a 28-21 lead. The Pioneer defense held firm on MBU's ensuing drive, which ended with a 12-yard sack on 4th down by Calvin Broussard. MNU was stopped on their next drive, but the defense forced another punt with 6 minutes left. The Pioneers needed to kill the clock while starting from midfield, and they drove down to the 8-yard line with under 2 minutes remaining. Not wanting to risk a field goal in the windy and wet conditions, the Pioneers turned the ball over with 5 seconds left. The Spartans tried a desperation lateral play, but MNU recovered an early toss and secured the win.

MNU's touchdown early in the 4th quarter turned a deficit into a lead.
