Pioneers Survive Grand View

OLATHE, Kan. - #22 MNU led 3-0 but had to survive a late scare in a 3-2 Senior Day Homecoming win over Grand View on Saturday. Antonio Mugica scored in the 8th minute to give the Pioneers a lead, and Duarte Chapelas made it 2-0 in the 29th minute, assisted by Nicolas Theberge. Just after halftime, Rick Hovinga made it 3-0 on another assist from Theberge, and the game was seemingly well in hand. But the Vikings scored with 5 minutes remaining, then found the net again with just over 2 minutes left. MNU had to defend Grand View's assault in the final minutes, and they were up to the task.

Turning Point
Hovinga's goal in the 50th minute proved to be the game winner.
