TrEl'Shawn Smith recorded a career high in a triple overtime 80-74 thriller at Culver-Stockton on Saturday. The Wildcats won each of the first two quarters by 2 to take a 4-point lead into halftime. MNU found some offensive rhythm in the 3rd quarter and tied it at 46 heading to the 4th. Each team scored 7 in the 4th to force an extra 5-minute period, and Culver held a 2-point lead with 7 seconds left in the first overtime. Smith hit a tough floater in the final second, and the teams played another 5 minutes. Each team managed just 5 points, and the game went to a 3rd overtime. The scoring started with a Smith 3-pointer, but Culver scored 4 straight to take the lead.
Bi'Anna Pettis hit a bucket and 2 free throws to put the Pioneers back in front, and Smith hit game-sealing free throws down the stretch to grab a 6-point road win.
