Nate Wiens Announces Resignation

OLATHE, Kan. - Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach Nate Wiens announced his resignation on Monday, effective in mid-August. The MNU alum was charged with reinstating the running programs in 2015, and earned 10 conference titles among Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field. He was named Conference Coach of the Year 6 times.

"I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to lead the XC/Track & Field program at MNU and work alongside some incredible individuals, coaches, and a great athletic department," said Wiens. "I want to thank President Spittal for believing in me and hiring me in 2014 to restart the program, and Director of Athletics Todd Garrett for taking steps to help move the program forward. I want to thank my staff over the years for their dedication, discipline, and faithfulness to accomplish more than anyone thought possible. Most of all, I want to thank all the student-athletes that came through MNU these past 8 years and believed this program could accomplish great things."

Wiens and his family plan to head to the mission field at the Black Forest Academy in Germany, a boarding school for high school missionary kids.

"Nate has led with tremendous energy, passion, and with a palpable conviction for his athletes to experience success athletically and certainly spiritually. He consistently displayed an undying devotion to his athletes, his staff, and our department and it is best recognized in the existing product our institution has experienced under his leadership; a successful and nationally recognized T&F program. The success he and his teams have had are a tribute to his work ethic, motivation, and attention to detail. His infectious energy will be missed; we wish he and his family our best as they move in to a new season of service."
