OLATHE, Kan. - MidAmerica Nazarene University Cross Country/Track & Field director Anthony Yates has resigned after four seasons leading the Pioneer program.
Yates guided the Pioneers to numerous All-Conference and All-America honorees, including 3 NAIA National Champions (Myles Ellis - 400m, Laurel Barber - Javelin, Victoria Lotz - Hammer).
"Coach Yates has made a meaningful impact on our cross country/track & field program and the student-athletes he served over the past four years," said Director of Athletics Ryan Thompson. "We are grateful for his dedication, leadership, and investment in our program, and we wish him the very best moving forward."
"It's been a great 7 years as an assistant and head coach at MNU and I'm grateful for all the memories and relationships MNU has brought me. I want to thank every student-athlete that came through our program! I want to thank my coaching staff of Devan Sawyerr, Nathan Houser, and Jared Seckel for a great 4 years. And our support staff over the years of Josh O'Brien, Erica Wollmering, Andrea Stark, Marshall Barney, Bridget Barney, Aubry Donley, Brittany Schultze, and Callie Ruffener. You've all helped shape what the cross country/track & field program is today at MNU. And a huge thank you to my mentor and friend, Nate Wiens, for taking a chance on a young coach from Illinois back in 2019. WE MADE HISTORY. I will cherish my time at MNU. I thank God for the opportunity and the people I met along the way. Thank you, I'm grateful. NEER Nation…Let's Ride"
A nationwide search for MNU's next head track & field coach will begin immediately.
