OLATHE, Kan. -Â The Pioneers led the #1 team in the country in the final minute, but fell in overtime to William Penn on Saturday. The Statesmen asserted their will early, building a 15-point lead after 10 minutes of play. MNU used a 9-0 run to close the gap, but still trailed by 7 at halftime. The second half was mostly played evenly, as William Penn answered every MNU spurt with one of their own to maintain about a 7-point lead. But with 4 minutes left and MNU trailing by 6, MNU finally got some stops.
Caleb Jones-McCrary,
Anthony Brown, and
Cameron Brady scored consecutive buckets to take the lead with 45 seconds left. MNU got another spot on Penn's next possession, but the Pioneers didn't score on the other end. The Statesmen collected the rebound and scored immediately to tie the game, and MNU turned over the inbounds pass, giving Penn a final chance to win. MNU got another stop, and the game went into overtime.
The teams traded small leads early in the overtime period, but Penn hit late free throws to put the game away.
Turning Point
Penn used a 5-0 run in overtime to turn a 1-point deficit into a 4-point lead.

Cameron Brady had 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Anthony Brown had 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
Caleb Jones-McCrary had 16 points. And
Trey Brown had 13 points and 6 assists.
