OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers fell in the 2nd Round of Nationals with a 2-1 loss to William Carey on Saturday. In the 9th minute, a William Carey shot was deflected back out to the top of the box, and the next shot found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. In the 24th minute, MNU was called for a keeper hand ball when a defender's pass almost went in the goal. The indirect free kick from 5 yards away got through the 11-man wall, and MNU trailed 2-0. The Pioneers were able to created pressure in the second half, but the WCU defense limited shot opportunities. With just over 6 minutes remaining, MNU brought goalkeeper
Enzo Carvalho into the attack and he was able to record his first career goal. More desperate attempts came in the closing minutes, but William Carey held them off.
