Adam Hepker earned his first career victory with a 94-83 win over Sterling in the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic on Friday. The Pioneers could not have started better, building a 14-0 lead in the first 5 minutes. MNU starters struggled with foul trouble, but maintained a double digit lead and went to the locker room up by 20.
Sterling started chipping away in the second half, and cut the deficit to 2 with 7:35 remaining. But the Pioneers were able to push it back to multiple possessions with buckets from
Anthony Brown and
Ed Wright II. A 6-0 run in the final 2 minutes iced the game, and MNU won the opener.
Turning Point
MNU's 14-0 run to open the game gave them the lead for good.
Individual Leaders
Anthony Brown led the way with 28 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 blocks.
Ed Wright II shot 12-18 for 25 points and 2 steals in just 24 minutes.
Caleb Jones-McCrary had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
