Pioneers Sweep Evangel to Close Season

Springfield, Mo. - The Pioneers closed the season with a pair of wins at Evangel. In Game 1, the Pioneers were kept scoreless through 6 innings, and the Crusaders managed a single run in the 2nd for a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 7th, Shelby Snelling led off with a walk and Hannah Tenberge bunted her to 2nd. Cordelia Hanger walked, but a lineout followed for the 2nd out. Morgan Found came through with a clutch 2-run double, and MNU took the lead. An error and a walk loaded the bases, and 2 wild pitches followed by a Brianna Carter RBI single put the Pioneers up 5-1. Alexis Wilds finished her start with a perfect 7th, and MNU took Game 1.

Game 1 Turning Point
Morgan Fouch's 2-out 2-run double was the game-winner.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Alexis Wilds struck out 14 in a complete game victory. And Cordelia Hanger (1-2, R, 2 BB), Morgan Fouch (1-2, R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB), and Brianna Carter (1-3, RBI, HBP) led the offense.

In Game 2, scored 1 in the 1st and rallied for 4 in the 3rd and 7th to build a big lead. Starter Allison Denges and relievers Chloe Smith and Alexis Wilds kept Evangel off the board, and MNU won 9-0.

Allison Denges allowed just 3 hits in 5 innings for the win. Alexis Wilds struck out 5 in 2 innings of relief. And Cordelia Hanger (1-2, R, SB, HBP), Londin Fiorella (1-3, 2 R, SB, HBP), Morgan Fouch (2-4, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI), Audrey Denges (2-4, R, RBI), Bailey Davis (1-3, R, RBI, BB), Shelby Snelling (2-2, R, 2B, BB, SB), and Hannah Tenberge (1-2, 2B, 3 RBI, Sac) had big games at the plate.
