FAYETTE, Mo. - The Pioneers split Games 3 and 4 at #5 Central Methodist on Monday. The games were moved to Fayette to avoid potential weather in Olathe, so the Pioneers were the home team on the scoreboard.
In
Game 3, Central Methodist jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but MNU answered in the bottom of the 2nd.
Daunte Freeman led off with a single, and
Ryan Leo reached on a bunt single.
Brycen Sherwood sacrificed them into scoring position, and
Randy Fernandez drilled a 3-run homer over the left field wall to give MNU the lead. Freeman added a solo shot in the 3rd, but the Eagles got 1 back in the top of the 4th. In the bottom of the inning with 2 outs and nobody on,
Randy Fernandez singled and
Austin Healy doubled.
Josh Torrance followed with a 2-run double, and MNU led 6-3. The Eagles rallied for 2 in the top of the 6th, but
Eric Navarette slammed the door in the 7th to preserve the 6-5 victory.

Randy Fernandez's 3-run homer turned a 2-run deficit into a 1-run lead.

Connor Jonas faced one batter and recorded 3 outs for the victory.
Nick Michael got 2 big outs in the 5th.
Eric Navarette retired all 3 he faced in the 7th for the save. And

In
Game 4,
Randy Fernandez put MNU on the board with his 3rd homer of the series, and MNU led 1-0 into the 5th inning. The wheels came off in the top of the 5th, however, and CMU rallied for 8 runs as MNU sent 5 pitchers to the mound.
Austin Healy's 3-run shot got the Pioneers back within shouting distance at 8-4, but the Eagles scored 2 more to win 10-4.
