Pioneers Swept in Opener

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Pioneers dropped both ends of the season-opening double header at Ottawa on Wednesday. In Game 1, the Pioneers scored in the top of the 1st, but the Braves rallied for 4 in the bottom of the inning to take control. The game settled through the middle innings until Ottawa rallied for 5 runs on 4 hits for a mercy rule victory.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Alexis Wilds struck out 7 in 4 innings. And Kaleigh Bayless (1-2) and Emma Ryan (1-2) had MNU's 2 hits.

In Game 2, Ottawa jumped out to a 3-run lead in the 1st, and led 6-1 after 3 innings. MNU scored 2 runs in the 5th to get back in the game, but Ottawa rallied for 3 in the 6th to push the lead back to 6. Kaleigh Bayless hit a 3-run homer in the 7th, but the Pioneers came no closer and fell 9-6.
