In a furiously-paced first quarter, the Pioneers led 21-10 before the Mustangs got hot and went on a 19-3 run to close the period with a 29-24 lead. Mt. Mercy held a 4-point lead with 6 minutes left in the 2nd when the Pioneers turned the game around.
TrEl'Shawn Smith scored 13 points during a 21-0 run in 3.5 minutes, and MNU never looked back. The lead reached 28 in the 3rd quarter and 37 in the 4th as MNU recorded a season-high 102 points.
