OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers started fast but faded late in a 68-64 overtime loss to Benedictine on Wednesday. MNU jumped all over the Ravens in the first quarter, taking a 23-9 lead. The Ravens responsed by flipping the script in the 2nd period, winning 21-12 to cut the deficit to 5 at halftime. The MNU offensive struggles continued in the 3rd and 4th periods, as they scored 11 and 10 points respectively as Benedictine came all the way back. The Pioneers trailed by 3 with 10 seconds left, but
TrEl'Shawn Smith's deep three tied the game. With 1 second left, the Ravens got a good look at a buzzer-beating layup, but
Lydia Ostenson blocked the shot and sent the game into overtime.
Turning Point
A Benedictine 3-pointer with 35 seconds left turned a 1-point Pioneer lead into a 2-point Raven lead.
