OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 2-1 loss to open the season on Saturday. Two first-half goals put MNU behind as the Bulldogs dominated possession, and the Pioneers didn't have any shots on goal. In the second half, MNU controlled more of the possession and finally earned a PK in the 87th minute.
Winder Pessoa converted, but the Pioneers fell 2-1.
"The first half was rough," said head coach
Kevin Wardlaw. "We showed our inexperience as a group with so many new faces. The second half was better and we will continue to improve each day; one step at a time."
