Anthony Brown's buzzer-beater capped an incredible finish in MNU's 84-82 victory at Evangel on Wednesday. The Crusaders controlled the early action, taking a 10-point lead after 10 minutes of play, but MNU fought back with an 18-4 run to grab the lead back and take a 3-point lead into halftime. A quick burst put the Pioneers up 12 with 15 minutes remaining, but Evangel chipped away and finally tied the game with 1 minute left.
Patrick Cairns hit a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left to give MNU the lead, but the game was far from over. Evangel banked in a 3 to take the lead, but
Jake Alexander answered with a 3 of his own to put the Pioneers in front by 2. The Crusaders countered immediately with a running 3 to go back up by one with 4.4 seconds left, and MNU needed a miracle. Cairns fired a high inbounds pass to mid court, where
Dakota Quinn leaped to corral it. The ball was momentarily knocked free, but Quinn recovered and fired to
Anthony Brown, who banked in a deep 3 as the horn sounded to give MNU the 2-point win.
