The Basics
Score:Â MNU 3 - Central Methodist 1
Record:Â MNUÂ (10-6, 7-4), CMU (6-2, 4-2)Â
Location: Bell Family Arena - Olathe, Kan.
OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers beat #10 Central Methodist in 4 sets on Saturday. MNU trailed significantly in each of the first 2 sets, but came back to win 28-26 and 25-18. CMU bounced back to take the 3rd set 25-17, but the Pioneers closed Set 4 with a 16-8 run to close it out.
"I'm proud of these women," said head coach
Molly Karagyaurov. "This year has been so tough and no one has felt it more than them. They've battled through and continue to battle through sickness and injury. They've had to be so resilient and adaptable. Even today, we had to make changes as we are managing injuries. And my heart goes out to CMU's Annebelle Massen, the freshman outside who rolled her ankle today.
CMU is a really good team and a strong program. So we are very happy with that win! The girls continue to work hard and improve day after day and week after week.
Specifically today - Jen continues to have a standout season as a senior leader; she had 19 kills and 15 digs today. Jacque added 15 kills, 2 aces, 3 solo blocks and 6 assist blocks. Sav dug 21 balls. Mack is so solid in our serve and reception. Nik had 7 kills and 2 blocks. Kourt with 30 assists and 12 digs. And Kelsey coming in seamlessly with that 6-2 switch for 20 assists and 10 digs. BUT the biggest story in my mind is freshman
Bethany Allison coming off the bench to get 12 kills and showed some major guts against some big right side blockers.
It wasn't perfect and there is room for improvement but it was a good team win. The last time the program has had a top-25 win was October 27th 2017 AND even more fun... the program's last top-10 win was all the way back to when I was a graduate assistant on October 17th 2014!
I hope the girls are enjoying all the feels tonight; I know I am. Tonight is for celebration. Tomorrow is for Jesus, family and rest. And Monday is back to working hard and getting better!"
