LAMONI, Iowa - MNU shut out Graceland 3-0 in the Heart opener on Tuesday. The match was scoreless until the 26th minute when
Maria Garcia got free and fired a shot off the goalkeeper. The rebound came right back to Garcia and she placed it in the net for a 1-0 lead. Just over 3 minutes later,
Savannah Moxley made it 2-0 with an assist from Garcia. In the 71st minute, defender
Rachel Slack recorded her first collegiate goal on a PK and MNU won 3-0.
"From the start our group had the right mentality tonight," said Coach McClanahan. "They played selflessly for each other and were rewarded with three goals and a shutout. We have once again shown that we are a deep team with players making an impact coming off the bench. Overall, very proud of the group to get our first conference win of the season and we look forward to going to Missouri Valley on Saturday."
