Volleyball Leads MNU into 2019

OLATHE, Kan. - The MNU Volleyball program goes on the road to kick off the 2019 season on Tuesday. The Pioneers face Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas with the junior varsity program playing at 5pm and the varsity at 7pm. Video Streaming & Live Stats

Last season, the Pioneers finished with an overall record of 9-26 and 5-12 in conference play, finishing 12th in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. In April, new head coach Molly Karagyaurov was hired to lead the program into the future. Since then Coach Karagyaurov has been hard at work preparing the program. "We graduated three contributing players and some serious height that will be seriously missed," says Coach Karagyaurov. "But we have some returners complimented by some new athletes who have put in some great work and are seeing some player development! For me as a coach, the work ethic I saw from certain individuals over the summertime and throughout pre-season is encouraging."

Pioneer volleyball is returning one of the two all-conference athletes MNU had last year. Defensive specialist Savannah Mathews will be a junior this year.

Coach Molly Karagyaurov continues, "I would say the biggest and most exciting change we've made in the program is official adding a JV program and hiring Megan Hayes to head that program and assist me with the varsity. It's so fun being back in the MNU gym with Megan! And I'm thankful to my GA Kendall Toren for putting up with all of the reminiscing." Assistant coach Megan Hayes joined the program this summer and was officially hired on July 1st.  Graduate assistant Kendall Toren is entering his 2nd season with the Pioneers.

The Pioneers home opener will be in their tournament on August 23rd-24th.

Saturday August 24th at 11am – MNU vs. Midland
Saturday August 24th at 5pm – MNU vs. Presentation
