Pioneers Split at Peru

PERU, Neb. - MNU split a double header at Peru State on Friday. In Game 1, the Bobcats scored in the 1st but MNU tied it with a 2-out RBI single from Joshuan Sandoval. Peru scored again in the 3rd, but an error allowed MNU to tie it again in the 4th. Peru took the lead in the bottom of the 4th then broke it open with 3 in the 5th to take a 6-2 lead. MNU couldn't get any closer and Peru took the opener.

Peru's run in the bottom of the 4th proved to be the winner.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Joshuan Sandoval (1-2, RBI, HBP) and Austin Healy (1-2, RBI, BB) drove in MNU's 2 runs.

In Game 2, MNU jumped out early with a 2-run top of the 1st on a 2-out 2-run double by Juwan Padro. The Bobcats took the lead with a 3-run 2nd inning, but they wouldn't score again until the 7th. A Jeremie Gonzalez solo homer in the 3rd tied it, and a Kyle Franklin RBI groundout in the 5th put the Pioneers in front. MNU blew it open with a 5-run 4-hit rally in the 6th, and the Pioneers won 9-4.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Jhon Vargas struck out 6 in 4 innings of relief for the win. And Joshua Crispin (2-5, R, RBI), Will Morris (0-2, 3 R, 3 BB), Jeremie Gonzalez (3-3, 3 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, BB, SB), and Juwan Padro (3-3, 3 2B, 3 RBI, BB) led the offense.
