JACKSON, Tenn. - The Pioneers hung right with #11 Shawnee State until the 4th quarter in an 80-73 loss on Saturday. Shawnee State jumped out to a 17-8 lead, but MNU dominated the 2nd quarter to take a 5-point lead into halftime. An evenly played 3rd quarter saw MNU's lead increase to 6, but the Pioneers couldn't stay with the Bears in the final period. MNU led by 7 with 6 minutes remaining, but SSU went on a 23-5 run in under 5 minutes to take and 11-point lead and win game.
