OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers defeated #8 Hastings 2-1 with a goal in the final minute on Saturday. Hastings scored in the 9th minute when a defensive cross was turned over and the Broncos turned it into a goal. Just 3 minutes later, however, Jose Henrique Ramos got behind the defense and collected a perfect pass from Cheuk Ngan Pan. He chipped the ball over the keeper and put it home to tie the score.
The second half was back and forth action with stellar defense as neither team could get a shot on goal. In the final minute, Fernando Churin escaped the defensive zone and found a streaking
Camil Koreichi, who took the ball all the way from midfield into the box. A pass to
Niccolo Luchetti was broken up, but Modoe Faburay recovered the loose ball and set up Luchetti in front of the keeper. Luchetti's shot was blocked, but the rebound was settled by Hideki and fired through 2 defenders into the net. The Pioneers survived the final-minute scramble and won 2-1.
