Pioneers Handle Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. - The Pioneers used a big 2nd quarter to earn their 25th straight victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday. Neither of the teams' first 2 drive yielded any points, but the Pioneers got on the board after a 6-play 50-yard drive completed by QB Austin Blackston's 17-yard scramble. Culver tied the game on the ensuing drive, but it was all MNU after that.

The Pioneers scored early in the second half with a Blackson to Jamain Lang 24-yard strike, and O'Neil Williams III picked off a pass at the Culver 20 to set up MNU in the red zone. Blackston found Arnold Adams for 18 yards on the first play, and MNU led 21-7. After a 4th-down stop, the Pioneers marched 78 yards in 11 plays for a Jamar Moya 1-yard touchdown run to take a commanding lead into halftime.

MNU picked up a safety early in the 2nd half, but Culver responded with a touchdown drive. The Pioneers came right back with a Blackston to Arnold 29-yard touchdown pass, and Jamar Moya put the game on ice with a 41-yard touchdown burst late in the game.

Turning Point
MNU's 21-point 2nd quarter, highlighted by the O'Neil Williams III interception and ensuing touchdown, put the Pioneers way up.

Individual Leaders
Austin Blackston was 18-24 for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also ran for 101 yards and a score. Jamar Moya had 20 carries for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sherley Jackson had 5 catches for 72 yards. Arnold Adams caught 4 balls for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jamain Lang recorded a touchdown catch. And Ryan Huerta (12) and Isaiah Robinson (11) recorded double-digit tackles.
