FREMONT, Neb. - The Pioneers lost a high-scoring season opener at Midland on Saturday. In a wild 1st quarter, each team scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and the Pioneers led 14-13. MNU's first touchdown came on 4th and 9 from the 31-yard line when freshman QB Levi Taylor found freshman tight end Jackson Sherley to tie the game. After Midland scored to re-take the lead, Juvante Martin got loose and Taylor hit him for an 84-yard touchdown. Midland answered with 20 straight points in the 2nd quarter to seize control, but another big passing touchdown - this time 50 yards from Taylor to Kobe Hardin - got the Pioneers back in the game before halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, MNU got closer by holding Midland to a field goal while recording a Kobe Hardin 28-yard rushing touchdown. A 4th down stop in the red zone kept the Warriors in the lead, and Midland put the game out of reach with 2 touchdowns in the 4th.
