SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Pioneers won the first elimination game but lost the second at the conference tournament on Friday.
In Game 1 vs. Graceland, MNU scored in the bottom of the 3rd when
Emily Robinson's double scored
Emily Butcoff and
Tessa Ward's 2-out single scored
Macie Jones to make it 2-0. Graceland scored on an error in the top of the 4th, but MNU answered with a
Madison Butcoff sac fly in the bottom of the inning. Graceland threatened in the 6th and scored one, but the Pioneers held on for a 3-2 victory.
Game 1 Turning Point
The 2-run 3rd inning put MNU up for good.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Jostyn Bebout struck out 4 in a complete game victory. And
Madison Butcoff (2-2, 2B, RBI, Sac, SF),
Kinsey Kiser (2-3), and
Emily Butcoff (2-2, R) had 2 hits apiece.
In Game 2 vs. #25 Baker,
Taylor Creason homered in the top of the 4th for MNU's only run. Baker scored in the bottom of the 3rd and the bottom of the 5th to take a 2-1 lead and held on to advance.
