Pioneers Split at Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Pioneers lost the first game but won the second at Clarke on Saturday. In Game 1, MNU took the lead in the top of the 5th with 3 runs, but Clarke rallied for 5 in the bottom of the inning to go up 7-3. MNU scored twice in the 6th to close the gap, but Clarke held on to take Game 1.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Emily Robinson (2-4, RBI), Macie Jones (2-3), Taylor Creason (1-4, R, HR, RBI), and Tessa Ward (1-1, 2B, 2 RBI) led the offense.

In Game 2, MNU powered its way to a big lead and held on to win 10-9. Tessa Ward's 2-run double highlighted a 3-run top of the 1st. With the game tied in the top of the 3rd, Emily Robinson, Macie Jones, and Tessa Ward hit back-to-back-to-back solo homers to start a 4-run inning. Ward homered again in the top of the 7th to give MNU a 10-5 lead, but Clarke didn't go quietly. Four runs came across and there were runners on 2nd and 3rd when the final out was recorded, giving the Pioneers a 10-9 victory and a double header split.
