Dakota Quinn recorded a career-high 13 blocked shots to go along with 22 points and 11 rebounds for a triple-double in MNU's 86-83 victory over Mt. Mercy on Saturday.
Isaac McCullough got the Pioneers started with 9 straight points for a 9-2 lead, and the furious pace saw MNU take a 24-9 lead after 6 minutes of play. But the Mustangs responded with a 15-0 run on five 3-pointers to tie the game. The second half was tight throughout as MNU was kept at bay with a barrage of threes from the Mustangs. With Mt. Mercy leading by 2 with 2:16 remaining,
Dante Scroggins hit 2 free throws to tie it, and
Dakota Quinn split a pair to take the lead. Mount Mercy missed a corner 3 and Kellen Turner was fouled after the rebound. The senior calmly nailed 2 more free throws, and the Mustang' final 3-pointer went begging and MNU held on for the win.
