OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers led 52-0 after 3 quarters and cruised to a 52-13 victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday. After a quick turnover on the opening drive, MNU scored 3 plays later on a 46-yard Trey Cooper pass to Sam Van Dyk. Cristian Casillas' 25-yard field goal made it 10-0, and Trey Cooper's 63-yard bomb to Kelvin Jones ended the first quarter with an exclamation point. A 15-play 53-yard drive chewed up half the second quarter and ended with a Jordan Samson touchdown. On the ensuing drive, Isaiah Robinson's incredible Pick-6 was called back, but MNU scored 6 plays later to take a 31-0 lead. Another quick touchdown drive ended the half with the Pioneers up 38-0. In the 3rd quarter, MNU's first two drives ended with quick touchdowns to go up 52-0 and Culver scored twice in garbage time to account for the 52-13 final.

"This was a good win as we improved in all three phases of the game," said Brian Willmer. "But we must continue to limit our penalties. The defense took a great step forward and played a good game. Ryan Huerta and CJ Dia both stood out with their play on defense. We played a number of young defensive backs and I was encouraged by their growth. The offense finished well and we were able to play a lot of different guys. Trey Cooper played very well and connected with a variety of different receivers. Sam Van Dyk and Kelvin Jones both played great, catching a number of crucial passes."

Turning Point
Culver-Stockton's 2nd play from scrimmage was a fumble recovered by MNU. Three plays later the Pioneers were in the end zone and the rout was on.
