Pioneers Fall to Ravens

OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers dug a big hole and couldn't recover in a 55-20 loss vs. #16 Benedictine on Saturday. After forcing a 3-and-out on the Ravens' first drive, MNU got on the board first with a Cristian Casillas 48-yard field goal. But Benedictine recorded 3 straight quick touchdowns to go up 21-3 late in the first quarter. MNU managed another field goal, but the Ravens kept scoring in the 2nd quarter to take a 35-6 halftime lead. The Pioneers got touchdowns from Marquis McQuire in the 3rd and an 85-yard pass from Trey Cooper to Dalton Inlow in the 4th, but Benedictine won 55-20.

"Benedictine is a very good football team and we made too many mistakes early in the game and couldn't rebound," said Coach Willmer. "Both the offense and defense struggled throughout game and we have to execute better and find a way to play better football. This starts with myself, the coaches, and players. We will build off this loss and get to work this week in practice."

Turning Point
With MNU trailing 21-3 late in the 1st quarter, MNU couldn't capitalize on 1st and Goal from the 4 and had to settle for a field goal. Benedictine scored the next 20 straight points to put the game out of reach.

Individual Leaders
Cristian Casillas hit 48 and 25 yard field goals. Trey Cooper threw for 291 yards and a touchdown. Marquis McQuire had 17 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown. And Dalton Inlow caught 6 balls for 140 yards and a score. On defense, Dominic Swillum recorded 11 tackles and 1 sack.
