DUBUQUE, Iowa - MNU led in both games but fell twice at #9 Clarke on Saturday. In Game 1, both teams scored 1 in the second and the game remained tied until the 5th.
Christian Quinones hit a 2-out homer to give MNU a 2-1 lead and the Pioneers picked up 1 more in the 6th to lead 3-1. Clarke answered in the bottom of the 6th with a run and loaded the bases with 1 out. After a strikeout for the 2nd out, Clarke cleared the bases with a triple down the right field line to take the lead. Clarke held on to win 5-3.
Game 1 Turning Point
Trailing 3-1 with 1 out in the 6th, Clarke had runners at the corners and MNU had the runner on 3rd in a rundown. The runner escaped to score and the runner from 1st ended up at 3rd to set up the eventual 3-run triple.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Matt Terrones struck out 7 in the loss. And
Nelson Santiago (0-2, RBI, SF) and
Christian Quinones (1-3, R, HR, RBI) drove in runs for MNU.
In Game 2,
Robert Berning gave MNU an early lead with a 1st inning 3-run homer. Clarke answered quickly with 8 runs in the first 3 innings.
Jason Jones' 2-run homer cut into the deficit, but Clarke led 9-5 entering the 7th.
Kelvin Perez cleared the bases with a 2-out 3-run double to get the Pioneers within 1, but he was stranded and MNU lost 9-8.
Game 2 Turning Point
Clarke scored 5 in the bottom of the 3rd to take an 8-3 lead.

Emilio Gonzales struck out 3 in 3 innings of relief. And
Jason Jones (2-4, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI),
Logan Tills (2-4, R, 2B),
Robert Berning (2-3, R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, HBP), and
