The Pioneers are 9-0 in Heart play after a 68-65 victory over William Penn on Wednesday. Neither team held more than a 4-point lead in the first half as the Statesmen took a 33-31 advantage to the locker room. William Penn took a 5-point lead with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, but MNU used a 10-2 run to claim a 3-point lead. The game was tied heading to the 4th, but the Pioneers took a 2-possession lead in the final minute to hold off WPU. A final-second 3-pointer cut MNU's 6-point lead in half, and the Pioneers claimed a 68-65 win.
Tristin Wicks shot 8-15 for 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Tanchelle Hollingsworth was 9-10 at the line for 15 points and 3 steals.
Jovana Jovovic was 6-9 for 14 points and 2 steals. And
Whitney Moia hauled in 9 boards and 3 steals in 16 minutes off the bench.
MNU is 10-2 (9-0 Heart). The next game is Saturday at #16 Central Methodist (11-2, 7-2) at 2:00.
