The Pioneers won their home opener in a tight 5-set match over Tabor on Tuesday. MNU dominated the first set, winning 25-12. But Tabor answered with their own dominant performace, taking the second set 25-14. Set 3 was tight throughout, and each team fought off multiple set points before Tabor finally won 30-28 to take a 2-1 lead. The Pioneers controlled the fourth set and won 25-13 to force the fifth and deciding set. Tabor led 8-7 at the change, but MNU went on an 8-2 run to win 15-10 and claim the match.
Gisele Silva had 21 kills and 12 digs.
Taylor Cowan added 13 kills and 7 blocks.
Hannah Bettge had 25 assists and 8 digs.
Rachel Kater had 17 assists.
Cailyn Bessmer had 2 aces and 5 blocks. And
McKenzie Hayes had 8 kills and 5 blocks.
MNU is 2-0. The next matches are over the weekend at the Robert Morris Invitational near Chicago.
