Blake Robberson tossed a 2-hit 9-inning complete game shutout to knock the conference champs out of the Heart Post-Season Tournament on Friday. The 39th win of the season is a program record. MNU pounced early when
Jordan Eckley singled to lead off the bottom of the first and
Logan Tills followed with a 2-run homer. After a hit batsman and a fielder's choice,
Kelvin Perez knocked home 2 more with a double, and MNU led 4-0. In the bottom of the third,
Robert Berning led off with a double and
Kelvin Perez brought home another run with a single. Robberson took over from there and didn't allow a hit until a pinch hitter doubled to lead off the eighth. He was stranded, and a 2-out single in the ninth was the only other hit for Avila.
Robberson struck out 7 for his eighth win of the year. And
Jordan Eckley (3-3, R, 2B, 2 BB),
Logan Tills (1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB),
Kelvin Perez (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI), and
Christian Quinones (2-4, 2B) led the offense.
MNU is 39-14. The next elimination game is against Grand View (27-18) on Saturday at 1:00. The winner plays again at 7:00.
