Pioneers Advance to Title Game

MNU advanced to the title game on ESPN3 with an 81-69 victory over Graceland in the Heart Post-Season Tournament semifinals on Friday. The Yellowjackets came out strong and built a 17-9 lead in the opening minutes. But after a timeout, the Pioneers went on an 11-2 run to take a 1-point lead. The rest of the half was tight and MNU took a 2-point lead to the locker room.

It was the Pioneers who came out strong in the second half, and with 15 minutes to play they led by 10. Graceland kept hitting 3s to stay within striking distance, but the Pioneers were able to convert in the half court and in the paint to keep the multi-possession lead.

Graceland hit 9 threes to MNU's 0, but the Pioneers dominated the paint - outscoring the Yellowjackets 61-33.

Nick Syrie shot 7-10 for 16 points and 6 assists. Jordan Whelan was 7-9 for 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals off the bench. Justin Jamison shot 7-10 for 16 points and 5 rebounds. And Justin Randall shot 7-12 for 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
