Pioneers Fall to CMU

CMU all but sewed up the conference title with a 71-59 victory over the Pioneers on Wednesday. The Eagles hold a 2-game lead (including a tie-break season sweep) over the Pioneers with 3 games to play. The MNU defense dominated the first quarter, holding CMU to 7 points on 3-18 shooting to take a 10-point lead. But the script was flipped in the second quarter when CMU shot 10-15 and outscored MNU 28-11 to take a 7-point lead into halftime. The Pioneers cut the deficit to 5 at the end of the third, but the Eagles maintained a double-digit lead for most of the fourth to hold on for a 12-point win.

Kyleesha Weston stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals. Jasmine Webb had 14 points and 7 rebounds. And Nathalie Felipe recorded a double double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals off the bench.

MNU is 21-5 (16-3 Heart). The next game is Friday at Missouri Valley (11-12, 9-10) at 5:30.
