Pioneers Survive Wildcats

Tristin Wicks and Whitney Moia dominated the paint in MNU's 53-44 comeback victory against Culver-Stockton on Wednesday. The pair combined for 31 of MNU's 53 points and keyed a big second half comeback. Neither team could manage much scoring, and Culver won the first two quarters to take a 27-21 lead into halftime. The Wildcats led by 10 early in the third quarter, but the Pioneers went on an 11-1 run to get back in the game. The Pioneers dominated the fourth quarter 22-8 and Jovana Jovovic drilled a late 3-pointer to put MNU up by 7 and ice the game.

MNU shot just 29% for the game but Tristin Wicks was 6-9 from the field and 7-10 from the line for 19 points and 3 blocks. And Whitney Moia had 12 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in 20 minutes. Moia's 18 boards are the most since Jenna (Matson) Swinger hauled in 21 in February of 2008.

MNU is 8-1 (7-0 Heart). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Graceland (1-8, 1-6) at 2:00.
