The Pioneers overcame a 14-point deficit vs. Peru State, but couldn't complete the comeback in an overtime loss on Saturday. The Bobcats started hot and had a 40-26 lead with 3 minutes left in the first half, but MNU closed the gap to 10 at halftime and continued with a 15-5 run in the second half to tie the score. Down the stretch, the Pioneers had a 4-point lead with the ball with 30 seconds left, but back-to-back turnovers led to 5 Bobcat points and a 1-point lead with 10 seconds left.
Payne Andrus was fouled with 6 seconds left and split the free throws to tie the game and send it into overtime.
The Bobcats outscored the Pioneers 13-6 in the extra period to send the home crowd home unhappy.
Justin Jamison had 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Gabriel Jordan had 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Justin Randall shot 8-16 for 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Payne Andrus added 10 points. And
David Nelson had a game-high 6 assists in 17 minutes off the bench.
