Three Pioneers reached double figures in Kills in a 3-0 sweep over Central Methodist on Tuesday. The victory clinched a share of the Heart championship, a title the Pioneers have held or shared every year since 2012. The match also marked the 31st consecutive regular season home conference win, a streak dating back to 2010.
MNU controlled the first set and won 25-20. In the second set, CMU led 6-1, 12-7, and 14-9 before the Pioneers started to chip away. The Pioneers finally caught the Eagles at 23, then each team fought off set points until MNU won 28-26 to take a 2-0 lead. MNU took control of the third set when a
Tashley Snyder service run turned a 7-6 game into a 12-6 game, and the Pioneers cruised to a 25-19 victory.
Gisele Silva led the way with 16 kills and 10 digs.
Eugenia Ayzaguer had 15 kills and 8 digs.
McKenzie Hayes added 13 kills.
Rachel Kater had 49 assists. And
Taylor Cowan had 4 blocks.
MNU ends the regular season 25-6 (12-1 Heart). Grand View also finished 12-1 but claim the 1-seed with a head to head victory over the Pioneers. MNU is the 2-seed and will play Saturday at 5pm vs. the winner of 7-seed Evangel and 10-seed Clarke.
