Pioneers Beat Culver for 6th Straight Win

Justin Randall's best game of the season keyed #23 MNU's 87-76 victory at Culver-Stockton on Wednesday. The junior forward made his first 7 shots and finished 10-12 as MNU won a regular season game in Canton for the first time since 2012. It was the 6th straight victory for the Pioneers.

The Wildcats led by 7 early, but a 9-2 run by the Pioneers tied it. Neither team took more than a 4-point lead for the rest of the half, and the teams went to the locker room separated by 2. With 6 minutes remaining, the game was still tight. But MNU went on an 11-2 run over the next 3 minutes to seize an 8-point lead. Culver couldn't recover and the Pioneers hit their free throws down the stretch to win by 11.

Randall was 10-12 for 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Gabriel Jordan was 5-9 from the field including 3-3 from beyond the arc for 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Justin Jamison put in 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, blocked 2 shots, and had 2 steals. Jordan Whelan had 14 points and a career-high tying 12 rebounds off the bench. And Nick Syrie had 10 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.

MNU is 15-6 (9-4 Heart). The next game is Saturday at home vs. Benedictine (12-7, 6-7) at 4:00. It is the "Coaches vs. Cancer" game and there will be a collection for donations.
