The Pioneers fell to Columbia College on Wednesday night 2-1. The Pioneers got on the scoreboard first in the 31st minute off of a cross from
Shelbi Durfee. Durfee found herself wide on the right side and played a perfectly weighted ball into the box over Columbia's defense and found
Kalyn Pfaff who placed the ball into the corner of the net.
Columbia College would not go away without a fight in the first half. They would find an equalizer in the 37th minute off of a set piece goal the Pioneers were unable to clear from their box. With only minutes left to play in the first half, the Pioneers would allow Columbia to get away and go ahead 2-1. Columbia was able to win the ball at midfield and advance up the field to get a cross off to the far post, beating the Pioneer defense to go up 2-1.
The Pioneers came out fighting in the second half, poised to find an equalizer. The Pioneers were able to dominate most of the possession in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net due to a strong defensive performance from the Columbia College backline and  goalkeeper. The Pioneers outshot Columbia in the second half 11-2, but fell just short in finding an equalizer.
MNU finished the game with 15 total shots, 6 on target, compared to Columbia College's 7 shots, 4 on target. MNU would also finish with an advantage in corner kicks, 9-2, in the loss.
The Pioneers are 1-1-1. They will look to bounce back this weekend as they head to Des Moines, Iowa for a Friday night showdown with Waldorf, followed by Judson on Saturday night.
