Nine-Run 1st Too Much to Overcome

The Pioneer offense stayed hot with 7 runs vs. #8 Tabor, but the Blue Jays put up 9 in the first inning to create a big hole. Tabor recorded 6 hits and benefitted from 2 Pioneer errors to put up 9 in the bottom of the first. But MNU answered in the second with 4 runs on 4 hits, highlighted by a Clayton Brandt 3-run double, to make a game of it. In the top of the fourth, the Pioneers got back in the game with 2 runs on 3 hits to cut the deficit to 3, but Tabor extended the lead in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to hold off MNU. The Pioneers scored 1 in the ninth but fell 13-7. Clayton Brandt (3-5, 3 R, 2B, 3B, 4 RBI, SB), Jordan Jones (1-5, 2 RBI), and Jordan Eckley (2-5, 2B, RBI, SB) drove in MNU's 7 runs.

MNU is 21-15 (8-8 HAAC). The Pioneers host Baker (15-21, 4-10) this weekend in a 4-game series starting with a double header on Friday at 1:00.
