MNU scored in every inning as they beat St. Mary 17-5 in a 7-inning mercy rule game on Monday. A 5-game losing streak was snapped with 17 runs on 17 hits as the Pioneers prepare for a weekend series against Avila.
MNU got on the board in the first inning when
Clayton Brandt led off with a single, moved to second when
Jordan Jones was plunked, and scored on an error. In the bottom of the second,
Jordan Eckley's 3-run bomb highlighted a 5-run inning to put MNU up 6-0.
Blake Robberson threw 3 scoreless innings as his teammate built a big lead, and the Pioneers put up 4 more in the third to go up by 10. USM knocked Robberson from the game with a 4-run fourth (1 earned), but the Pioneers added a run in the fourth and fifth before blowing up again for 5 runs in the sixth.
Caleb Swartz pitched 3 solid innings to close out the 12-run victory for a save.

Trent Sullivan (2-4, 3 R, 2 RBI, SB) had big games at the plate.
MNU is 17-14 (4-8 HAAC). The Pioneers host Avila (19-10, 8-2) in a 4-game series this weekend. Double headers on Friday and Saturday start at 1:00.
