Pioneers Fall at Nationals

Box Score MNU's remarkable season came to an end with a 52-45 loss to #4 Campbellsville on Friday. The number 3 defense in the nation (52.3 points allowed per game) kept MNU off the scoreboard until Jasmine Webb hit a bucket off the bench at the 14:38 mark. Starting point guard Kyleesha Weston picked up 2 fouls in the opening minute of the game and had to sit for the majority of the first half. After 16 minutes of play, the Pioneers had 10 points and 16 turnovers. While the Pioneers could not find an offensive rhythm, the defense was solid and kept MNU within striking distance.

Early in the second half MNU cut the lead down to 5, but Campbellsville maintained a 6 to 9 point lead for the next 15 minutes. A 9-point lead was cut to 5 with a minute left, but the Pioneers could get no closer and the season came to an end.

Daria Sprew shot 8-14 for 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jasmine Webb shot 7-9 for 14 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. And Megan Balcom had 6 points and 5 assists.

MNU finishes the season with a 27-7 record. In the last 4 years, MNU women's basketball has an overall record of
110-23 (the best stretch in program history), a HAAC record of 65-7, 3 HAAC titles, 3 HAAC tourney titles, 4 trips to Nationals, and 2 Sweet 16s.
