Peru State completed a season sweep of the Pioneers with a 94-82 victory in Olathe on Thursday. MNU started well and led 38-30 with 5 minutes remaining in the first half, but the Bobcats closed with a 21-9 run to take a 4-point lead into the locker room. A
Cale Brubaker 3-pointer got the Pioneers within 1 early in the second half, but Peru pushed the lead to 15 with an 18-4 run. MNU never got the deficit back to single digits, and the Bobcats took the 12-point victory.
Jordan Whelan matched his career high (also against Peru State) with 25 points on 9-15 shooting, with 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Nate Launius added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
Justin Randall had 12 points and 6 rebounds. And
Cale Brubaker had 6 points and 5 assists.
MNU is 8-16 (7-8 HAAC). The next game is Saturday at Central Methodist (18-9, 8-7) at 4:00.
