Pioneers Back in Win Column

After consecutive losses, MNU picked up a much needed 64-49 win at William Penn on Saturday. A sluggish first quarter saw the team combine to shoot 7-34, but MNU led 11-9 at the break. The Pioneers scored the first 7 points of the second quarter to take a 9-point lead, but the Statesmen fought back to get within 3 at halftime.

In the third quarter, William Penn controlled the action and had a 2-point lead heading to the fourth. The Pioneers finally exploded in the final period, outscoring WPU 27-10. In the final 7 minutes, MNU went on a 23-6 run to close the game.

Megan Balcom led all scorers with 21 points. Jasmine Webb added 13. Tristin Wicks had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Kyleesha Weston had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Nathalie Felipe had 6 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. And Bailey Rinehart had 8 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in just 17 minutes off the bench.
