MNU dominated the first half at Peru State on Thursday, but the Bobcats flipped the script in the second half to win 72-70. The Pioneers started the game on an 8-0 run and maintained a double-digit lead for the final 10 minutes of the first half, taking a 16-point lead into the locker room. Peru State came out of the break hot, cutting the lead in half after just 3 minutes. The Pioneers responded and still led by 11 with 12 minutes to play, but Peru started to chip away. An 11-3 run got the lead down to 3, and the teams traded buckets over the next several minutes. When Peru finally took the lead,
Martyna Kudziela hit a pair of free throws to take it right back. The Bobcats hit a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, but
Megan Balcom hit 2 free throws to tie the game again with just under a minute to play. PSC converted on their next possession, and the Pioneers missed 3 of their next 4 free throws. The Bobcats held on to win by two for their first HAAC victory and MNU's first HAAC loss.
Daria Sprew shot 8-11 for 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.
Tristin Wicks had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks. And
Martyna Kudziela had 9 points and 6 rebounds.
