Pioneers Hold Off Missouri Valley

Box Score

Highlight | The Pioneers advanced to the HAAC Tournament semis with an 87-80 victory over Missouri Valley on Wednesday. MNU had to play without their engine, a banged-up Nick Syrie, who played just 5 minutes. After 8 minutes of play, MNU held a 27-14 lead thanks to hot shooting from beyond the arc. But Valley chipped away at the lead and used a 12-3 run at the end of the half to take a 1-point lead into the locker room.

In the second half, a Luke Thomas 3-point play at the 17-minute mark gave MNU a lead they would keep. The lead slowly increased to 10 and the multi-possession lead was maintained for the final 10 minutes.

Luke Thomas had 24 points, 19 rebounds, and 3 assists. Conner Langrehr shot 10-18 for 24 points and 4 assists. Nate Launius put up 18 points and a team-high 5 assists. And Justin Randall had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

MNU is 21-10. The next game is the HAAC semifinals on Friday at 2-seed Culver-Stockton (23-6) at 7:00. The #14 Wildcats were the only HAAC team to sweep the Pioneers this year. In the other semifinal, Benedictine hosts Evangel.
