Pioneers Fall to 0-2

Twenty-three turnovers contributed to MNU's 85-74 loss to College of the Ozarks on Thursday. It's the second straight loss to start the season for the Pioneers. The first half was tight until a 9-0 MNU run put the Pioneers up by 9 with 2 minutes left, but the Bobcats scored 5 straight to close the period. Ozarks came out strong in the second half and quickly took a 6-point lead, but a 12-2 run put the Pioneers up by 4 with 10 minutes left. The next 5 minutes were dominated by the Bobcats, who out-scored MNU 21-7 to take a 10-point lead. Kyle Smith hit a couple of deep 3s to cut into the lead, but the Pioneers didn't score for the final 4 minutes and the deficit ballooned to 14.

Nate Launius shot 9-13 for a career-high 24 points. Kyle Smith hit 5 three-pointers for 15 points and 2 steals off the bench. Justin Randall went 4-5 for 8 points and 2 blocks. And Aleksander Zivkovic hauled in 6 rebounds in 15 minutes.

MNU is 0-2. The next game is Friday at home vs. Park (0-2) at 8:00.
